Off the coast of Southern California, suspicious activity is brewing in the waters of the Pacific. Military personnel dispatch their best pilots to investigate strange disturbances occurring on the ocean’s surface. When the pilots arrive at the radar-indicated location, they are shocked to find an otherworldly craft hovering above the water—only for it to vanish right before their eyes. The audience plunges into the ocean depths with the craft, revealing an entire underwater network controlled by a nefarious shark-humanoid alien species.
Back on the mainland, we meet Elle Villanueva and her best friend, Georgetta King. Elle is an aspiring video game developer, currently avoiding her creative calling by filling her time with various side hustles. She gives a talk on diversifying income at a local arcade, where her speech raises concern in a certain audience member: Edward Slush. Afterward, Edward warns her that she has no idea what forces are really at play. Elle, thinking Ed is being overly dramatic, brushes off his warning as harmless paranoia.
Always eager to make a few extra bucks, Elle sends Ed a link to her Airbnb listing—she's renting out the guest room in her apartment. Georgetta, not keen on her best friend staying under the same roof as a strange man (especially one behaving like Ed), insists Elle stay at her place for the night.
The next morning, Elle returns to find her apartment completely trashed. Initially, they assume Ed is responsible—until they find a clue: a locker key that suggests otherwise. The key leads them to a train station, where they locate the matching locker. Inside, they discover several items pointing to foul play—but before they can process what they’ve found, they’re pursued by a group of mysterious hooded figures. Their only escape is to hop a departing train headed for Las Vegas.
On the train, the girls uncover a massive list of debt records that support Ed’s earlier whistleblower claims. Elle also encounters Don Osprey, a narcissistic biohacking businessman whose cryptic comments deepen the mystery. After another narrow escape from the hooded figures, Elle and Georgetta arrive in Vegas, confident they’re closing in on the truth.
In true Vegas fashion, a chaotic sequence of events leads them beneath the Golden Nugget, through a tunnel that opens into a hidden bunker—where unfortunate names from the debt list are being forced to repay what they owe. The girls soon realize the "sharks" coming to collect aren’t just metaphorical—they’re extraterrestrial.
Deeper into the underground labyrinth, Elle and Georgetta come face-to-face with the alien shark enforcers. A massive chase ensues as they uncover a vast operation orchestrated by these otherworldly predators.
The pursuit culminates in a high-speed escape aboard a hidden hyperloop train, launching them straight into an underwater pyramid deep beneath the Pacific Ocean. There, they meet the Big Bad: Ira Wrath, the leader of the alien sharks. Ira reveals the full scope of their sinister plan—an intricate scheme woven into Earth’s financial systems over centuries, all designed to fuel their galactic fleet of “nerve-vessels” powered by human sentience.
In a daring escape, the girls flee in one of these nerve-vessels, which holds the consciousness of their fallen whistleblower, Edward Slush. The final showdown unfolds in an epic, real-life game of Space Invaders on the beaches of California. Elle and Georgetta triumph, destroying Ira, his mothership, and the galactic fleet once and for all.
